Pier 57 took center stage at Google NYC's holiday party season in December. The team orchestrated eight holiday parties, welcoming over 950 Googlers and spanning across five distinct Product Areas. Collaborating seamlessly, the Events and Catering teams joined forces to infuse the venue with holiday spirit, featuring custom cocktail bars and gingerbread cookie decorating.
In partnership with over 10 vendors, a variety of engaging activations and activities were curated, ranging from lively photo booths to entertaining games. The Event Production team executed their role flawlessly, coordinating with hosts to arrange everything from DJs and musicians to lighting setups. We received incredible accolades from hosts to end out an amazing events year!
EMEA
The team delivered 385+ events in December - a combination of digital, onsite, and hybrid experiences.
The London Event Management and Event Production teams supported various festive activities within the first two weeks of December. The One London team arranged a Doogler Day where dogs came in fancy dress, a children’s festive party with soft play, a visit from Santa and his elves delivering presents and a stage performance, a themed Celebrate Winter "TGIT" with 360° photo booth, mulled wine and cider and live bandaoke. The Engineering team organized a team screening of Elf in the Major Tom event space.
One of the last events of 2023 for London was a part of the Talks @ series where external guests come in for a discussion with a Google lead. Bear Grylls came in to have a talk with the EMEA President of Google, Matt Brittin highlighting his new app for men’s mental health, Mettle. In room viewers had the opportunity to ask Bear questions and the chat was live streamed globally and viewable on the Talks@ site on demand.
The annual Winter Series event at Google Dublin featured a diverse range of campus-wide activities to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season. Highlights included dog "pawtraits," candle making workshops, cake decorating competitions, and delightful pop-up experiences offering chocolate, gingerbread, cheese, and wine. Additionally, multiple musical showcases added a festive touch to the two-week extravaganza.
In Paris, the Bastille auditorium hosted the prestigious 2nd edition of La Montre de L'année, the largest French watch award ceremony. With over 250 guests, including C-level executives, journalists, and enthusiasts, the event was a success.
At the Digital Studios, the final recordings of the popular Think AI series, shot in portrait mode and broadcast on social networks, took place. Additionally, the studio hosted a couple of VP Digital events, seamlessly led remotely from Germany and Ireland.
APAC
The team delivered 240 events in December - a combination of digital, onsite and hybrid experiences.
The 6th Trusted Media Summit, an annual event hosted by the Google News Initiative, successfully brought together journalists, fact-checkers, educators, researchers, activists, and policymakers. The summit aimed to provide a platform for this community to network and share best practices in the areas of fact-checking, verification, news, research, and information literacy. Despite the challenges of finalizing event details and set-up requirements dependent on registration numbers just a week before, the Singapore Event Management team demonstrated outstanding support, contributing to a successful event.
The Sydney team hosted AuNZ Live, a collaboration between the Google host, Event Management, Event Production teams, and local in-office service lines. The event was streamed from the Corroboree event space in Sydney to event spaces in Melbourne and Auckland, NZ, as well as watch rooms within Sydney. With Corroboree reaching full capacity (185 pax) and 500+ Google employees watching the Live Stream, the show featured updates on the year and expectations for 2024. The event included a live band, engaging the audience in dancing. The VP of Google AuNZ collaborated with local Directors to host this event.

In December, we received an impressive 38 FIRST Kudos forms! While we would love to feature all of them, we've randomly selected some to showcase.
Timea Lakatos, Marc Tyson, Charles Richardson, Russell Caten: FIRST Supporting Google, London
"I wanted to reach out with a huge thank you on behalf of the entire team for your help in executing GBA Module 1 Live. We so appreciated your partnership in delivering this live experience; from your attention to detail during our planning process, all the way through to your responsiveness to our/my many (!) pings during the live week, you really helped us bring the magic... and not forgetting 16 flipcharts at short notice!"
Cathal Graham, Lindsay Barber, Graham Dillon, and Lucas Simon: FIRST Supporting Google, Dublin and Paris
"The team did an amazing and seamless job supporting our 2 X end of year all team sessions. It was a tight turnaround but the team put us at ease, answered all our questions and put on a great show. Very thankful for their partnership!"
Minat Allah Sherriff: FIRST Supporting Google, New York
"I wanted to thank Minat for her excellent event management skills and partnership. This is my second time working with her and she's always a pleasure to work with. She recently helped us with our big client innovation day during one of the busiest periods in early December. I appreciated her communication and helping to be on call the day of our event. The event ran smoothly and we couldn't have done it without her."
Hannah Delmore: FIRST Supporting Google, New York
"I wanted to take a minute to recognize Hannah for all of her incredible work yesterday. We hosted 125 people in-person and another 200 online via GVC for a 4-hour event with 12 speakers and a 155-page slide deck (i.e. a whole lot of logistics!) at Chelsea View. Hannah was super professional, left no stone unturned in terms of preparation, and helped us execute the event as smoothly as it could possibly be done. She was overly communicative during the process, which helped make sure that I, as the organizer, was comfortable with everything. We got numerous thanks and kudos on a great event."
Wen Choy: FIRST Supporting Google, Singapore
"Just reaching out to thank Wenhui so much for the recent events. She recently helped with GCS global connect and APAC AppDev Connect, and Wenhui has been extremely helpful, patient, providing alternative solutions when there were conflicts in terms of rooms, etc. With her help, we were able to finish some of the large-scale events that we wanted. Thank you so much Wenhui! Hope we can work together in the future again!"
